From wild quail to working cattle, our story has always been about the land—and the people who make a life on it.
Our story begins
One family.
A lasting tradition.
The Last Buffalo began as a family-run commercial quail hunting operation. Wade and Jerry Robertson, with help from the entire family, welcomed guests from across the country to chase wild bobwhite quail behind pointing dogs.
A former community bank became our headquarters and lodge. For more than three decades, it has been a gathering place for people drawn to the beauty, wildlife, and untamed character of the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandle prairie.

Three partners.
A shared love of this place.
In 2008, Josh, Jared, and Jordan purchased the lodge and hunting operation. Together with a dedicated crew, they have carried the tradition forward, welcoming guests from near and far to share in life on the prairie.
Working country · Since 2010
Rooted in ranching.
Committed to the land.
We leased our first grazing land and bought our first cattle in 2010. With the help of our crew and landowner partners, ranching has grown into a central part of The Last Buffalo.
Our commercial herd pairs quality females with top registered Angus bulls. Each year, we work to improve the herd while caring for the land responsibly—for grazing and for wildlife.

Ranching plays a larger role today, but our hunting tradition continues. We maintain a wildlife management program and a kennel full of dogs, and still enjoy sharing this country with guests when we can.

What began as a community bank has been our lodge and headquarters for over 30 years.
Today, there are over 7,000 square feet to gather, unwind, and settle into a different pace in Darrouzett.
